Equality Statement
This is a caring and inclusive Church of England primary school where we safeguard the rights of those with protected characteristics, but also see the human being beyond the characteristic and try to wear our difference lightly, working to discover and celebrate our "sameness" at the same time as being curious, considerate, educated and accepting about perceived difference.
Our motto, after Isaiah 40:31, is "Together We Soar".
Having your difference and personal characteristics acknowledged whilst being included and treated the same as everyone else is one definition of "soaring".
As a church school, we know that discrimination and prejudice must be recognised, called out and opposed, and that education is the key to change in attitudes. We have hope in the words of St Paul that with Jesus, our worldly distinctions fade in significance and there is spiritual equality beyond difference:
“There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female.
For you are all one in Christ Jesus.”

We are committed to access for all to activities, trips and experiences, and consulting with groups and individuals about how best to adapt our offer and meet needs about which the individual may be best placed to advise.
This will be lived through our values, led in collective worship and taught in the classroom. We will be held to account by each other, and by the board of governors through their monitoring of Equality Targets which we will review every 4 years.
