Website Accessibility Statement

This accessibility statement applies to:  https://www.wyche.worcs.sch.uk/

Introduction

Malvern Wyche C of E Primary School is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with any barriers to website access, be that disability, English as an additional language or other causes.

We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying relevant accessibility standards in line with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2.

We encourage users to report any content which is proving partially accessibly or inaccessible, and will gladly make hard copies of any document, policy or webpage available on request at no charge.

Compliance Status

Despite the partial exemption for schools, we strive to ensure our website conforms to WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards. This means that our website aims to be:

  • Perceivable: Information and user interface components are presented in ways that users can perceive.

  • Operable: User interface components and navigation are operable.

  • Understandable: Information and the operation of the user interface are understandable and the content is expressed simply and in lay terms.

  • Robust: Content is robust enough to be interpreted by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.

Measures Taken to Improve Accessibility

To enhance accessibility, our website features:

  • A clear and consistent navigation system.

  • Fully responsive format to fit desktop, tablet and mobile

  • Ability to zoom text and images.

  • Clear colours, contrast levels and legible sans serif fonts

  • Well-structured content using appropriate headings and landmarks.

  • The website has a translate function which allows translation to over 130 languages.

Non-Accessible Content

Despite our best efforts to ensure accessibility, some content may not yet be fully accessible. This may include:

  • older PDFs may be inaccessible to assistive technologies

  • third party plugins may not be fully accessible

  • video content may not include captions

  • some images may lack alternative text or captions

  • some images may contain textual content that is inaccessible to assistive technologies

  • where audio files are used there may not be an accompanying text transcript

  • Some PDFs may not respond to translation software.

We are working to improve these areas of our website to make it accessible for all.

If you encounter any issues, please let us know so we can work to improve accessibility.
