Library Learning Centre
The LLC is open from 8.50-3.20 Monday-Friday.
Pupils are encouraged to read and a comprehensive and varied selection of books, magazines and newspapers are on offer.
The library is offers a reading scheme to year 7 and 8 pupils. Renaissance Reading is a structured online reading programme that enable us to closely monitor and evaluate your child's reading. All students in year 7 and 8 follow the Renaissance Reading Programme. Parents and carers can view their child's performance via the Renaissance Reading home connect website.
Board and card games are very popular especially chess, cards and dominoes.

There are 18 computers for use for homework and independent study. The area is also used as a teaching facility. There is an interactive whiteboard and audio equipment which is used by teaching staff and on a Friday, for film club. EVENTS Author visits have included Andy McNab, ex-SAS Officer, Cathy Cassidy, popular writer of teenage fiction, Simon Mayo, author and DJ, John Townsend, ex-teacher and author of over 100 children’s books, Michelle Paver presenting her Gods and Warriors series, Jonathan Stroud launching his series Lockwood & Co, Karen King who writes a variety of books for pre-school children right through to teens and more recently John Boyne author of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and his new book, Stay Where You are and Then Leave. Most recently, Ann Evans gave a talk to Year 7. Ann talked about Lewis Carroll who, in her childhood had inspired her with Alice in Wonderland. She talked about her struggle to get her first book into print. Emphasising that you must never give up as it took 7 attempts before her first novel was published. She also had time to read an excerpt from one her books ‘Beast’. This is the first in a trilogy about a sabre toothed tiger’s ghost. She promoted her book ‘Celeste’ which is an historical mystery book for teenagers. Towards the end of the presentation she answered questions from the audience and then personally signed books.
