Chantry Apple Fest 2012

The Chantry holded their third Applefest event on saturday the 6th of October as part of their involvement in the National Fruitfull project. Entrance was free and all members of the public were welcome to join us.


Events included demonstrations in apple pressing and juicing, spinning and bee keeping.

There were experts on hand to identify apple varieties (If you have any this year!)

There was a display of traditional apple varieties grown in the area.

An opening of the Chantry Orchard.

A Drama production (Two performances) and music from the Grimley and Holt primary school and the Chantry orchestra.

There was a Craft Fair with items of jewellery, textiles, wood turning, calligraphy, preserves and juices.

Other stalls included the Chantry Eco stall and some fund raising stalls.

The Earth Heritage Trust with fossil and badge making and associated geological activities.

Lots of children's activities revolving around the apple theme.

Helen Cooper was on hand to sign copies of her books.

There was efreshments, candy floss, toffee apples and a Pig roast.
