Chantry Careers:
Within the Key Stage 4 programme delivered at The Chantry School, students are given the opportunity to gain valuable experience to help prepare them for life beyond our school.
At present in Year 10, students are given advice and support in preparation for their work experience placement. Students are encouraged to find there own placement through either the database facility offered in school or through contacts they may have through family connections.
In Year 11, students are prepared for the world of work or college through sessions delivered from Post 16 establishments throughout the local area. Colleges come in and speak with the students about the courses on offer and the commitment they need to give to be successful. Tied into this the Careers Team within the school also look at the application form process, asking every student to complete an application form for college, which in turn is assessed by an external panel of people that give up their time from the local colleges to do mock interviews. We find this to be a very worthwhile process and gives students a real understanding of the challenges ahead when competing for jobs and college places. We also offer interviews with an independent, expert careers adviser.
